For the Record: Amnesty International says US not safe for refugees

Now for one of our occasional features. It's called For the Record and it's where we run through a few items very quickly, devoting only a few sentenced to each because it's something we can't spend a lot of time on but still wanted to be sure it was mentioned.

So For the record...

...while Canada will continue its current policy of accepting asylum seekers crossing illegally from the United States, it will also continue to honor the Canada-U.S. Safe Third Country Agreement, which requires it to turn back refugees if they make asylum claims at Canadian border crossings with the US.

However, Amnesty International and other groups are calling for Canada to abandon the agreement, arguing the United States is not safe for refugees.

This is how we look to the world now.
